Truth. One can only hope that since EVERYONE bashes the chat system, it will be one of the first things fixed/improved.

Im still 100% enjoying this game, though. Even with the bugs.

There was a post at the amazon basin where one of the developers admitted the chat was "unusable." It'll definitely be fixed soon.

They also need to rethink the mob scaling in groups because as it is, the game becomes significantly harder as you add more party members. With 3 people, it's simply not fun, and even with only 2, it sucks if your classes don't work together well (one character with 100% shield penetration and the other with 0% for example).

ZOMG... maybe. The game still needs time to realize its potential. Id say check back with the game after a couple months if you are looking for a polished game... if you can stand to play a game with some obvious gameplay issues (that has a lot of potential) then jump into Hellgate now.

Im in the latter camp... so Im still definitely enjoying my time in game.

Of course, had we been psychic, one of us would have levelled a Warrior right from the get go and we would have owned in arenas*. Then we would still be playing WoW.

*this comment does not take into account how fickle Blizzard's class favoritism is... I have no clue which class is the best after 2.3

Warriors still. Though hunters got a huge boost. Warlocks are on the way out.

I could definitely see going back to this when/if I stop playing WoW. I just don't want to overload on games and WoW is very thoroughly meeting all of my game cravings, so no room for HGL unfortunately.

Shouldn't Hellgate get it's own forum then?

FotM. Hellgate fell flat on its face, and I hope Flagship gets to work on a new game instead of supporting this one forever.

I understand Star Trek needs a new Production house, maybe they can take it over.
Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen it's true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...

...and I'll look down, and whisper "no."

From time to time, I've checked out the website for this game to see the changes theyI've made.

While I don't think its time for me to try this game again yet... there are some pretty significant improvements on the horizon.

Reposted from their forums (which you need an account to access):

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Patch 1.2
In-game mail with the ability to attach items.
Marksman skill adjustments.
Many bug fixes.

Previously known only for its sweeping changes to the Marksman class, Patch 1.2 will add in-game mail, a hotly desired feature. Additionally, a great many bugs are addressed in this build, many of them reported by the community.

Patch 1.3
New functional pets.
Warp to any player in buddy list.
Emotes.
Text bubbles over character heads.
Display party member level and class.
Inspect other player's equipment.
Link items into the chat.
Split stacked items.

This patch will introduce a host of features designed to enhance the Hellgate experience. Not only will you now be able to check out your teammates' armor and weapons, items will be able to be "linked" into the chat window, allowing other players to see their statistics with ease. Emotes will provide new depth to interacting with your fellow Hellgaters as will text bubbles. All in all, Patch 1.3 offers a bevy of new features.

"The Abyss Chronicles" (Patch 2)
Group PvP, PvP games, and PvP ranking.
The Abyss "endless" dungeon.
Big Ben/Parliament Square adventure area.
Three new base monster types.
Five new bosses.
New skills for all classes.
New high end armor for all factions.
New weapons for all factions.
Consignment house.
Shared stash.
Instance switching.

Our biggest major content update yet (well, until the next Chronicle). Sizable additions to the PvP department, seriously unique skills for all classes, new armor and weapons for all factions, new monster types, new bosses... Oh, and then there's the consignment house and shared stash. Big? This content update is HUGE. Now for some glimpses at the sights to be seen when you enter... The Abyss Chronicles!

----------------------------------------------------------

Patch 1.2 is already live and 1.3 is in the test center. After patch 2 comes out, I could definitely see giving this game another whirl. The only reason why Im not doing that now is that Blizz buffed Ret pallies, so I've been hitting the arenas and BGs to gear up.

Definitely going to keep my eye on this game, though... it definitely has a chance, IMO, of being a real sleeper hit. Much like the Diablo 2 patches that breathed new life into that game (with synergies, more items and more quests), I could definitely see Hellgate making a comeback after Flagship has had time to work out all the kinks and improve the gameplay.
