Crafting Quests are a JOKE

Postby pixleyes » Wed Jul 28, 2004 9:32 am

Well the new crafting quests you can pick up from Contractors in npc city Commerce Guilds are now online after a 1 day delay. Go to a commerce guild (see planetary map for wp) and speak to a contractor. They will offer you tasks (easy, moderate, difficult) to complete for creds and xp.

I took Blix over to the contractor in espa and took a "difficult" job. The contractor asked for me to make 5 memory modules and gave me a crate to store the objects.

After making the 5 modules and dragging them into the crate I again spoke to the contractor. She gave me 175 creds and 15 crafting xp...

LAME!

Not even Hardly worth the effort. This could have been better with perhaps some slight attempt at a storyline, perhaps crafting goods for the war effort or for the good of the town and then a small item stating thanks from the Mayor of Espa or something...

Imagine this:
CONTRACTOR: [playername], we are desparately in need of [itemname]. [factionname] thugs have raided our stockpiles and the people of [cityname] will suffer greatly if we don't get 10,000 units in the next 24 hours. Please, [playername], you are our only hope!

/upon completing the quest/

CONTRACTOR: Hooray! We are saved! Thank you [playername] for saving our town. The people shall not suffer. Please accept this small token of the appreciation of the City of [cityname].

/add to inventory plaque of appreciation:
"The People of [cityname] owe a debt of gratitude to [playername] for saving our city. Let this plaque demonstrate to all our appreciation."

it's sooooo hard to just add a few details to make the simplist things enjoyable...

Smells to me like the end of a Player Run Economy.
