Cataclysm Grog

Postby Munki » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:45 pm

House of Grog is going to be starting their raid schedule very soon and along with it we are laying down the ground rules on how we will be dealing with a lot of elements connected to the raid as well.

The When
Right now, our raid days will consist of Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 pm - 2:00 am EST (8:30-11:00 pst). As of right now though, we'll try and do Baradin Hold on Saturday during the day, if we have people online and willing to go... the raid time will have to be fluid due to the nature of the PvP zone, but we will usually aim to try and have this take place sometime around 230-3pm EST. This will allow us to work on progression fights during our actual raid times.

The Who
The Core Roster
The raid roster is going to be flexible, but the idea is that we will have a core group of raiders that will be typically used for progression fights. These players will be required to perform up to a certain standard (doesn't fail at execution, is able to put out acceptable DPS, etc) and will generally need to be fairly consistent in their attendance.

It bears mentioning that with a 10 man raid, consistent attendance is very important. We don't have a particularly large group of backups to rely upon. Some of our raiders endure hardships in order to make the times we raid (late night for EST folks for example) and it's going to be really bad if we have to frequently cancel raids due to spotty attendance. If someone is marking themselves as Tentative every week we will have to consider moving said person to a backup position. We will recruit new players to fill gaps made by bad attendance, so if you are marked as a "Main" raider, please do your best to make the commitment to the raid that is expected of you.

Right now we don't have our exact list of 'core' raiders set. It's pretty close, and when we do have it I will post it on the forums.

Backup Reserves
However, that is not to say that those players will be the only ones raiding. The goal of this guild is to progress, but we want to get everyone involved as much as we can. Between people not being able to make a raid and cycling people in for non progression bosses, I'm hoping everyone gets chance to raid and get loot.

Generally, we should have an idea of what bosses/zones we plan to hit up at the start of a night. I don't expect people to sit on the sidelines the entire time we are raiding just for a shot at a boss, my goal will be to let people know at the start what bosses we will be moving them in for, this should hopefully give them a general idea of how long they'll need to chill out and wait to be brought in.

Raid Invites
Raid Invites will be handled through the use of the In Game calendar system. I will be sending out invites to EVERYONE involved with the raid, to see who is going to be available or not. However, remember that being on the list or accepting the invite does not mean you have a spot in the raid that night. Just if you can be there at the start of the raid we can determine what is going on. It sucks to have to do it that way, but we have more than 10 people interested in raiding and it's just a necessary evil.

The Loot System
Our Loot system is going to be very simple. We will use master looter along with a /random 100 for all interested parties. We will do Main Spec rolls, then move on to Off Spec if no takers. The only real rule is to not be a greedy dick. Be considerate of the other people raiding, if you've won a lot of loot over the last few weeks, don't keep hogging it all. After all, spreading the loot around helps the raid as a whole. The only other caveat is that the officers reserve the right to overrule any loot rolls if needed and award the item to someone of their choice.

While we don't want to screw people that get to raid infrequently out of loot, attendance will be a factor considered for awarding loot. In short if some rare or highly desirable piece of loot drops and you have poor attendance, there is a chance the item will be awarded to a more consistent raider.

BoE Drops
Any Zone BoE epics that drop will be something players can roll on for use. However, they will be required to equip it right there, to ensure the weapon is not going on to the Auction House. We also will not allow BoE epics to go to offspecs for the time being... they are simply worth too much gold for them to go to offspecs. However, guild members will be given the option to purchase the BoE item at a cost of 20% below Auction House prices.

This will only hold true until we have a pretty solid amount of gold in the bank, then we can be more lax on this rule. However, BoE's will never be available for greed purposes. If nobody is going to use it they will be sold to fill the banks coffers.

Maelstrom Crystals
In the short term, we will be selling any and all Maelstrom Crystals to feed the Guild coffers. The Maelstrom Crystal prices on the AH are insanely high right now, and it would be a waste to not jump on this price to help pad our bamk. After the Maelstorm Crystal price starts to fall some, we'll immediately get 15 crystals to the Guild Enchanter (Rhoa) to get all 3 of the epic weapon enchants.

Once we have reached a comfortable gold amount, or the crystals have dropped in price enough to stop selling them, they will be collected and deposited in the guild bank. Every week, we will have a post on the forums for people who would like to withdraw Maelstrom Crystals for an enchant. We will put the lottery post up on Monday, and close it out on Thursday. At that point I will /random to determine who receives the crystals that week. As with all the other loot in our guild, the "Dont be a greedy dick" rule applies. Everyone needs enchants, and if you've recently won an enchant please consider waiting a week or two before putting your name back in the lottery. They will be required to use a Guild Enchanter for their enchant, to ensure the crystals don't make it's way up on to the AH. While people are still learning recipes, we will allow people to find an outside source to enchant their stuff. But keep in mind, if someone is caught selling a Maelstrom Crystal that was gained through the guild lottery, they will be kicked from the guild. To help fund the guild bank, there will be a charge of 100g per crystal.

Flasks and Food
For now, everyone is responsible for their own flasks and food. For progression nights, both food and flask buffs will be required. We will be doing our best to keep flasks and food in the guild bank for people to use, so don't hesitate to grab some out of the bank for a raid. Once again though, don't be greedy... only take what you need for the night (unless we have a glut of items, like we seem to have for food buffs all the time). Eventually we will start to have Guild Cauldrons and Feasts so these will be taken care of for raiders. Until then though, it is the responsibility of each individual raider to provide these for themselves.

Guild Repairs will be turned on for raid nights only, unless we are at a point where we have enough gold to keep it on all the time.

Ultimately we are here to just have a good time. The rules above are just an effort to keep things as fair as possible for everyone involved. The officers are always open to new suggestions and ideas as well... don't hesitate to bring up new ideas to us if you think it will better the raid.
